Mental health is an essential component to life. It’s what encourages or discourages us to move forward, to take the next step to even get out of bed. Mental health is more than just attitude and feelings it’s deeper than that. It’s a piece of life that can propel us forward or hold us back.
We tend to keep up with our physical health. Go to the gym, order the salad, see the doctor regularly. We control our emotions to the best of our ability but don’t ever seem to give ourselves enough grace or time to recover. We don’t typically take care of our mental health the way we would our physical health.
Well…It’s time to start! No better time than now to make a healthier you. Be proud of what you accomplish no matter what amount! You can and possibly will do differently next time not better or worse just different.
You are human. You are in control of what YOU can control. You are allowed to make mistakes. You are allowed to ask for help. You are allowed to take a break. Celebrate the wins. Learn from the undesired outcomes.
As the saying goes “you can not pour from an empty cup.” When we take care of our mental health, fuel it with positivity, mindfulness and intention we are much more equipped to handle what is thrown our way.
I challenge you to fill up your cup. Do what brings you joy and peace and find the strength to not let the negativity win. Don’t let the intrusive downward spiral take over. Breathe, get outside, call a friend, speak to a professional, take the day off, do yoga meditation or ground in the grass outside. You CAN do this. Take care of you so you will be happier and healthier!
